About Us:
We are best friends, and have been married for five wonderful years. We talk constantly, sharing both serious and happy moments and aren’t afraid to be silly together. We enjoy traveling and doing fun things with family and friends, but also are pretty content just to snuggle up on the couch and watch movies or play games together.
Josh is a psychologist who works with adolescents and has a passion for spiritual elements of psychology. Laci is a freelance animator and children's book illustrator and is blessed to be able to work from home.
About Josh by Laci:
Josh is the sweetest, most unique guy I’ve ever met! He’s the kind of guy who still opens doors and helps old ladies reach groceries on the shelf...he inspires me to be a better person. He's a strong leader when he needs to be, yet can be silly and spontaneous, too (you should hear the songs he makes up!) He has this magical quality that makes kids instantly adore him, because he never talks down to them and isn’t afraid to play.
About Laci by Josh:
Laci is my love and partner. The longer we’re together, the more I love her and see why God put us together. One of her strengths is finding the beauty and joy in everyday life. Even when things are difficult, she finds the whimsy in things that can restore hope. While I see the challenges of life through my job, Laci helps me remember that childlike wonder can exist and is actually a mark of great maturity.
Our Home:
We live in gorgeous California, in a suburban area with a small-town feel. There's plenty of space to run around in our yard, feed the birds in our courtyard, or splash around in our pool. We also have a dog and a cat that we adore, who would love a new playmate! Our neighborhood is full of lots of families with kids, and the elementary school is a block away. The town has lots of family events like free movies in the park, Santa visiting each street, sports leagues, and Halloween festivals.
Our Family:
We are both close to our families and love to spend time with them. Often, you can find many generations laughing and sharing stories. Laci has a sister and brother, and Josh has a sister and two brothers. We have a blast at Thanksgiving doing a scavenger hunt with Laci’s family, and enjoy a snowy Christmas up in the mountains with Josh's family. We're looking forward to doing things like sailing with Josh's parents, going to Disneyland with our siblings and their kids, playing with the puppies Laci's mom raises, and more fun family moments!
Our Faith:
Our Christian faith defines who we are. We believe that Christ gives life, not only in heaven, but also here and now. His love and grace is so much greater than we can know, and we’re constantly amazed by it! We also believe that we can see God in our everyday lives, in things as simple as a beautiful sunset or a cuddle from our loved ones. Our faith is so integrated into our lives that it will be a natural part of our children’s lives, too.
Our Promise:
We promise to love your child with all of our hearts. We are prepared to put them before ourselves, as we think a parent is meant to meet the child's needs rather than the child meeting the parent's needs. We will expose our child to the many wonderful pieces of life and the beauty of a strong support system of family and friends. Our goal is to give them a strong sense of hope and faith, help them develop their own interests and goals, and provide them with lots of love, laughter, and encouragement.
