Adoptive mother, Amanda

Dear Birthmother,

I make my living as a writer and yet I feel as if I don’t know where to start here. I promise to love and provide for your baby with all I have. I believe adoption has been laid on my heart and I’m excited to become a mother. I look forward to getting to know you and your hopes for your baby.

Why I Hope to Adopt:
I have always wanted to raise a family. I want to love, nurture and cherish a child. I am Catholic and have been praying about adoption for a few years. I’ve always considered adoption as a way to build a family. I am immensely fortunate to have the resources and support to raise a baby now and am excited about becoming a parent.

My Work:
I recently started working with two of my best friends in their advertising agency as vice president. What’s great about my job now is that it is very flexible and I am able to work from home when I want. I made a conscious decision to create a work structure that would allow me to be a mother.

When I think of my family, I think of laughter. We are so close.  My parents have been married for over 40 years and have been a good example to me of commitment to family. They ride bikes every evening with the neighborhood kids. They are adorable.

My sister has my two nephews and helping to raise them into the young men they are today is my proudest achievement to date. My nephews are very special to me and it’s been through our relationship that I’ve learned what parenthood takes.  I love to be involved in their lives. I can’t wait to start sharing the experiences I’ve learned through being “aunt” as a mother.

My sister is the school nurse at the local elementary school and my mom still teaches in our school district as well. My father is retired and is a superb granddad. He is really dedicated to my nephews and has been a huge influence in their lives.

I enjoy being outside, gardening, reading and having people over for dinner. My father loves to fish, and while I don’t like the catching fish part, I love being with him on his boat, laughing and camping. I love amusement parks and roller coasters. I have even gone skydiving.

My Home in Pennsylvania
I live in a suburban community with great schools, beautiful parks with great playgrounds. My city has a great zoo, award-winning children’s museums and two wonderful championship sports teams.

Amanda's home in PennsylvaniaThere are a lot of little kids and families in my neighborhood. I have a nice town home in a brand new community. It has four bedrooms and plenty of room to play, dance and run around.

I love having friends and family over for dinner or to celebrate holidays. It’s important to me to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable.

My Thoughts on Parenting
I believe raising children can be rewarding, but that it’s not always easy. I feel the best I can do will be to listen and love unconditionally. I will do everything I can to be there for your child to support him or her toward the dreams and goals he or she develops.

Amanda is excited to adopt!Moving Forward …
I’m happy to answer any questions you have if that will help you make the right decision for you and your baby, whatever that may be. I will raise your child to understand and be proud of how we became a family through adoption. You will always have a special place in our lives and I will honor your wishes and your heritage. I’d love to get to know you more so that I could share some of your family history with your child as well.
