Dear Birthmother,

Thank you for reading our letter. We want to have a big family and after we had our daughter, Sydney, we experienced failed fertility treatments. We and our extended families are very excited about expanding our family through adoption.

Casper and Soomie are excited about expanding their family through adoptionAbout Us
How we met is so random and so amazing - we met at the Atlanta Olympics on the last day during the last hour. We could have parted, never to see each other again, separated by two continents and 4 time zones. Yet here we are 11 years later.

We have a toddler, Sydney, and two dogs, Jack and Saja. Both sets of grandparents support our decision to adopt and are excited to love and spoil more grandchildren. Soomie has one younger sister and lots of cousins, some in Europe, others in the U.S. Casper has one younger brother and cousins, all in Europe.

Casper's a wonderful provider and always puts family firstCasper (by Soomie)
Casper makes me laugh. He doesn't have any hang ups, and is always happy to laugh at himself. Casper's a wonderful man and a good provider, always putting Sydney and me first. He is always willing to make decisions that benefit the three of us, forgoing opportunities he might take otherwise. Casper recently graduated with his MBA while working to support our family. He is respectful of my role as a stay-at-home mom, and is great about having daddy-daughter time with Sydney. Casper always makes a point of sitting down for meals with us, no matter how busy he might be. When we face a challenge, Casper looks for the solution; he doesn't waste time worrying about the problem. He's loyal, and has such a soft heart.

Soomie is a volunteer rowing coach at a local high schoolSoomie (by Casper)
I admire and love Soomie for many reasons. Soomie is open-minded and easy-going. She is incredibly smart and curious. We share the same sense of adventure.

Soomie has many talents and interests. She's a volunteer rowing coach at a local high school, she works in the kitchen of a local culinary program and she is actively involved with an international exchange student program. Soomie is also a better Nintendo Wii bowler and tennis player than me. In other words: Soomie is fun and interesting to be with.

Sydney is an energetic and imaginative three year oldSydney
Sydney can't stop talking about becoming a big sister. Sydney is an energetic, imaginative three year-old. She pretends she's a mermaid at breakfast and then she's sitting in her princess castle surveying her kingdom an hour later. Sydney attends a Christian preschool three mornings a week, and also takes soccer lessons. Sydney loves, loves, loves to be around other children, and will be a great, loving older sister.

Our Home and Community
Home in VirginiaWe live in a very family-oriented community in Virginia. Our home consists of five bedrooms, three and a half baths, and a fenced-in backyard for the dogs. Our third floor is a guest suite, set up for visiting grandparents and friends.

Our neighborhood is filled with families, walking paths, and playgrounds. The kids, Sydney included, love feeding the ducks in the pond, playing on one of the four playgrounds and going to the community pool during the summers. We live close to great schools, a library, and the YMCA.

Casper and Soomie feel it is important to learn about other people's culturesWhat We Believe
We think it is important to keep learning, starting first with education. Both of us have advanced degrees and were fortunate to have studied abroad. We are committed to providing the best opportunities for our children to help them succeed in life.

We also feel it is important to have a curiosity about the world and to learn about other people's cultures, religions and their experiences. We are appreciative to be able to share three different cultures-American, Asian and European - and we are excited that we can teach our children to have a global focus through language, food, travel and other experiences while pursuing individual interests.

Casper and Soomie promise that your child will always know their adoption storyFinal Thoughts...
We hope you find peace in the knowledge that your child will be loved and cherished unconditionally. We promise to nurture and guide your child to grow, thrive and become their special self while giving him or her trust and space to be responsible and make good decisions.

Your child will always know their adoption story. We are willing to create an adoption with a degree of openness you are comfortable with and share our lives especially through letters, photos, and videos.
