Dear Birthmother,
Hello! We are Clay and Kristin. We met in our first years of college and have been married for almost 12 years. In that time we have established a strong, loving and stable relationship. We adopted our son, Brian, and we have loved being parents. Now we would love to expand our family once again through the blessing of adoption.
My Wife, Kristin…
She lights up any gloomy day and is warm and welcoming. She has a grace and friendliness all her own.
As a stay-at-home-mom, Kristin’s schedule is flexible. Because Kristin is home, she is able to focus on raising Brian and keeping the home warm and inviting, which includes many fun craft projects and adventures. Kristin also enjoys gardening and is eagerly anticipating planting again this year.
My Husband, Clay…
Clay has become my best friend. Some of my favorite characteristics about him are his honesty, integrity, and his sensitivity. I always guessed that Clay would be a great dad, but seeing him in action is such a wonderful experience. Together they go on adventures together to find great bugs, act out a story with play swords and forts in the living room or build train tracks. I couldn’t ask for a better husband.
Clay spends much of his free time reading and playing his lute (which is like a guitar, but is a period medieval instrument). When the weather turns nice, Clay can be found outside working in the yard and helping Kristin in the garden.
Our Son, Brian…
Brian is our greatest treasure. We adopted him as an infant. Brian is four years old and an adventure to parent. Brian loves to go to the parks, the zoo (to which we maintain an annual family pass), walk in the woods, sled in the mountains, and swim in the lakes. He is already very excited about the idea of having a sibling.
About Us…
We value faith, family, friends and education, which have all shaped and continue to shape the choices we make in our life. Much of who we are is defined by our faith in God. Our faith inspires us to make the world around us better through our actions toward others and personal growth.
We love being close with our family and we believe these relationships will offer so much to our children. We moved back to Washington years ago to be close to our family. Our families are supportive of our desire to adopt and adoption has already been part of our family as Kristin’s grandmother was adopted as a child. We both have very fond memories of growing up with large family holiday celebrations and hope to offer that to our children as well.
We also value education in all aspects from learning through school and academics to doing things outside the classroom. Clay is currently finishing up his Master’s degree and we plan on providing our children the resources to attend college.
Clay works for a large organization that helps children in impoverished places around the world and has shaped his career in a way that allows him to have time at home with the family. With that time we love to spend it outside as much as possible. In the winter, we head up into the mountains that are close by to sled and snow shoe. When our children are older we look forward to returning to the ski slopes. During the warmer summer months we do a lot of hiking, kayaking and swimming, often sharing those activities with Kristin’s brother and his wife. We have two pets. Our family dog, Loki, is a wonderful German Shepherd and Kristin’s horse, Chivalry, provides fun for the whole family.
Our Home…
We love our home in Washington. It has three rooms upstairs, with both a living room and a play room downstairs.
We live in a quiet neighborhood with schools in walking distance. We live on a quiet cul-de-sac. Mountains and forests can be seen from the windows.
In Closing…
We believe that through adoption children have two heritages, which we honor as part of our son’s life, and will also honor for your child. We are open to discussing the level of contact you would desire. As parents we will pass on our love of learning and helping others.
