Dear Birthmother,
Thank you for taking the time to learn about us. We met at church and were married eight years ago in the California wine country, where we now have our home and winery. We are warm, caring people, with a relationship based on mutual respect, deep love, and a genuine desire to build a life together.
We decided to build our family through adoption after unsuccessful fertility treatments. Adoption was already part of our extended family, and we were blessed with our daughter, Natalie, through open adoption. She brought new joy to our family, and we can’t wait to adopt again! We value our relationship with Natalie’s birth family and look forward to getting to know you and your hopes for your baby.
About Us
We live in a small town near San Francisco, where Craig runs our family’s winery. The town square has a playground and duck pond, and is surrounded by shops and restaurants. We attend church regularly and stay involved in our community. We are close to the beach and the mountains, and we enjoy San Francisco’s theater, restaurants and culture. We love to travel and have visited many places in the U.S. and around the world.
We were raised to believe that we can do anything through hard work and the support of our families, who are very supportive of our adoption plans. We look forward to creating a loving environment for your child to explore and develop his natural talents and interests. We will provide your child with the best possible education and a strong Christian foundation.
My Wife, Ellen
Ellen is my best friend and a terrific mother. She is creative, patient, kind and intelligent. She loves making our home a warm, welcoming place, and she spends time teaching, playing and reading with Natalie. She is close to her parents and siblings. They talk often, visit when possible, and get everyone together to celebrate the holidays.
Ellen loves music and relaxes at home by playing the piano. Ellen and Natalie attend a weekly music class, and Ellen loves watching Natalie find her own rhythm! Ellen also enjoys reading, cooking, walking and watching college basketball.
Ellen has a Master’s degree and believes that education is very important. Ellen works a few days a week for our family’s winery. Her schedule is flexible, and she can work from home, leaving plenty of time for activities with Natalie.
My Husband, Craig
Craig is a wonderful husband and father. My favorite things about Craig are his outgoing personality, generosity and caring nature. He enjoys his role as Dad, providing horsey rides, taking Natalie to the park, swimming with her, and spending time playing. Craig has what it takes to love, support and nurture our children so they can achieve their full potential.
Craig loves the outdoors – he grew up camping, sailing and playing sports. Tennis is his favorite activity, and he tries to play a few times every week. Before earning his college degree, Craig became an Eagle Scout and was a star member of the debate team.
After spending many years working in software sales, Craig changed careers to start our winery. He has been busy learning the wine business – taking classes, managing our vineyard, conducting wine tastings, and selling wine. He is happy, and the business is growing quickly!
Meet Natalie
Natalie came to us in 2006 through open adoption. We were fortunate to have a chance to get to know her birth family, and Ellen even attended Natalie’s birth!
Natalie is a sweet, happy little girl. She loves doggies, her dolls and Cinderella. She likes to dance, draw, ride her tricycle, talk on the telephone, take our dog Ziggy for walks, and “help” mommy in the kitchen. She is looking forward to being a big sister!
Our Home
We have a comfortable home with lots of room for children. We live on a private street with several families with young children. We enjoy making our home a cozy and inviting place for family and friends, and we have worked together on projects to fix it up. We spend our free time nurturing friendships and bringing people together.
In Closing
We believe strongly in our commitment to our children’s birth parents. We welcome the chance to keep in touch with you over the years, if you’re comfortable, and your child will understand his own adoption story. We look forward to getting to know you. Contact us through Lifetime at
