Dear Birthmother,

We are Dave and Maureen, a fun-loving couple.  We married just over ten years ago and can’t say enough about the joy of adoption.  Our first adoption brought twin girls into our family.  Our girls are in second grade and are, alongside of us, so excited about this adoption!

About Us
We met in college.  Dave first saw Maureen, dressed as a bag of jelly-beans, while sitting in a class in school.  He thought to himself, “Wow, that girl’s got a lot of school spirit.”  A Halloween dance soon led to real love.  Now, we can’t imagine life without each other.  We’ve been married just over ten years and share common ideas about faith and family, fun and tree-climbing and the importance of home-made family dinners each night.  We love to dance, bike and garden.  We are outside throughout the year and love a nightly fire on cool nights.   We also barbeque year-round; we can’t say enough about steaks on the grill. We still date one another and call on our parents to babysit.

About Dave...
Dave is honest and loving, fun and a fix-it-all kind of man.  The kids in our neighborhood, as well as our girls, know that he will fix their bikes.  

As a family, we count on Dave as he is truly the rock of our lives.  To me, Dave is my other half.  I would be lost without him for he is my sweet husband, lover and best friend.  We love late night movies in front of the fire.  To the girls, Dave is their loving papa.  He is always willing to teach, play soccer and climb trees.  He is also our night-time story reader.

About Maureen...
Maureen is my sweet wife and mama to our girls.  This sounds straight forward but you have to meet Maureen.  She would love to hear your story.  Babies love her attention…envision a woman who carries babies in an earthy baby sling and is excited to teach them when they open their little eyes.   She makes incredibly strong coffee, walks and bikes our kids to school every day, and is always looking for a great garage sale.  Do you like Spaghetti?  Maureen makes this mega pot of home-made sauce every August and invites all of our neighbors (60 plus folks-old and young) over for the whole evening.  This little person will have an adventure with Maureen as their mama, and will be loved big time. 

About Grace and Lucy...
Our girls are having so much fun in second grade.  Life right now is about cart-wheels, reading new books and tree climbing (and sometimes all three).  They are twins so they always have a built in playmate. 

Both of our girls are really excited about this adoption!  They can’t wait to love this little one, and be mama’s helpers.

Our Home
We have always lived in a 1930 blue farmhouse.  It has wood floors throughout and lots of old world charm.  For those parts of the house that have become too old to charm, we have remodeled to bring back the luster.

On the main floor, we decorated the bedroom next to ours into the cutest baby nursery.  The baby’s room is decorated with old fashioned style wood furnishings including a radio flyer fire engine for that first drive.  Wooden baby toys line the room and a 1929 picture of Humpty-Dumpty hangs on the wall just above the crib. 

About Our Lives…
We love family life.  Right now, the girls and mama are collecting loads of fall leaves beneath a backyard tree.  In just a short while, we will all jump from the tree into the leaves.  We also love good food.  Every birthday Grace and Lucy leaf through cookbooks to pick a unique birthday treat…Lucy repeatedly thinks “outside the box” and selects a coffee-cake or an apple pie, while Grace loves the traditional chocolate cake with M&M’s…We look forward with all of our hearts to finding out about this new little person.  And we, as a family, will surround this one with loads of love and life!

Our Promise...
We try to center our lives on God.  We treasure our marriage and want our kids to grow up seeing a life-long love.  We also let our children know that they are a gift from God.  Maureen, a former teacher, is now a stay-at-home mama.  We want all of our kids to be doing really well in school before Maureen heads back to the classroom.  And, most likely, Maureen will teach at their school.   This baby will be welcomed and surrounded with a really loving family.
