Dear Birthmother,

We thank you for considering us as you decide what will be best for you and your baby.  We are excited about the possibility of turning our family of three into a family of four through another adoption.  We would be glad to keep in touch with you and, if you are comfortable, have an open adoption.

About Us…
We met standing in line for lunch at the university where we both work, and five months later we were engaged. 

We just knew that we were right for each other, and we have been married about 10 years.  Our marriage is very easy, full of love, fun, sincerity, humor, and good food.

Our Family Began with Adoption…
When we discovered we wouldn’t be able to have children without medical assistance, we almost immediately turned to adoption.  We adopted our daughter, Ella three years ago.  We have an open adoption for Ella, and we see her birthmom every year for Ella’s birthday.  Ella is a happy, smart, energetic little girl.  We can’t imagine our lives without her and we can’t wait to adopt again.

We love all the “everyday” things we do with Ella like reading stories, having bath time, and riding her tricycle.  Glenn likes building towers with Ella and then knocking them down.  Ella and Danielle like to do art projects, decorate cupcakes, and work in the garden.  Ella has also been known to chase our cat, Misty, around the yard with a pool noodle, but usually we just like to pet Misty.  We know another child will only add to the joy and chaos of our lives!

We want our kids to be happy and to be good people.  We want to share the things we love with them, but we also want them to discover the things they love, to grow and learn, and to find their own paths in life.

Our Home…
We live in Southern California in a great neighborhood full of kids.  It’s a wonderful community, with good schools and a lot of outdoor and cultural activities. 

We love going to the zoo and the sea center, losing our way in the pumpkin-patch corn maze, and going for hay rides at Christmas!

More About Us…
Glenn teaches mechanical engineering at a university here in Southern California.  He is also the associate dean for the College of Engineering where he helps keep students on track.  He has a lot of flexibility in his schedule so he often takes the afternoon off to be with Ella.

Danielle teaches part-time at the same university where Glenn is a professor and also at the local community college.  She enjoys her schedule because she loves working with students and getting to spend a lot of time with Ella.

Our daughter, Ella is three.  She is a happy, outgoing little girl.  Ella likes trains, painting, and watering the tomato garden (which occasionally results in the watering of the inside of the house).

Hobbies and Other Activities…
Our big hobby is flying.  Both Danielle and Glenn are pilots, and we own a four-seat airplane.  We have flown around the country visiting family and friends.  Aviation provides us with a good perspective on life:  When you fly a small airplane, you have to enjoy the trip more than the destination.

Glenn likes to fly with friends and family to nearby airports for pancakes or burgers.  He also takes his students on field trips to places like the Hoover Dam.  He’s even appeared on a Discovery Channel special in Morocco!  Danielle takes ballet classes, swims for fun and in open water races, and chases Ella.  Ella also loves to fly (she calls the plane “my tiger airplane”) and enjoys music, dancing, swimming, dressing up as a princess, and playing with friends.

Our Friends and Family…
We are close with our families, even though they live around the country.  We see everyone at least twice a year (if not more). 

Ella and her new brother or sister will have fun traveling to these different places, playing with cousins, and being doted on by grandparents!

We also have a great circle of friends.  Everyone is very excited at the prospect of another member of our family.  We are excited to keep in contact with you through letters, photos, emails, and visits – whatever your preference may be.
