Adoptive parents, Glenn and Ellen

Dear Birthmother,

Thank you for taking the time to read our story.  We are a fun-loving couple who share the same beliefs and values.  We have been happily married for about nine years and are the proud parents of a five year old boy, Justin.  We want to have the opportunity to share our love and the love of Jesus Christ by adding a second child to our family.  We believe in raising our children to be caring, compassionate people; we offer unconditional love, and a loving, excepting extended family.

We met at a school of Piping and Drumming where we were both playing the Scottish drums, Glenn as a snare drum teacher and Ellen as a tenor drum student.  We share a love of music and a love for the great outdoors.

Ellen followed Glenn and the Pipe Band he played for to Glasgow, Scotland for the World Pipe Band Championships.  On top of Edinburgh Castle, Glenn proposed marriage.  It was so romantic.

One of the first things we discussed when we were dating was our belief in God and Jesus Christ.  Glenn was raised Presbyterian and Ellen has been a member of a Presbyterian church for over a dozen years. We share similar values and having children is very important to both of us.  We were blessed with the birth of our son, Justin.  We are excited to add to our family through adoption!

Glenn is a finish carpenter and cabinet maker.  Glenn is currently a stay-at-home parent, and enjoys teaching drumming students and completing small carpentry projects.

Glenn teaches snare drum to young students.  Glenn is very good with children and loves to teach them music.  Glenn has been teaching individual students and drum corps for over seventeen years.  Glenn is so ready to teach a new snare drummer!

Ellen is a stay-at-home momAbout Ellen
Ellen has a Master’s degree and is a safety professional.  We feel blessed that we can have one parent stay home with our son Justin.  Ellen is very involved with her church where she recently served as a Deacon for three years and helped lead worship with a small singing group for six years.  Ellen is an active swimmer and enjoys walking.  Ellen loves reading and anything to do with music.  Ellen has played numerous instruments over the years, including piano, violin, viola, marimba, tenor drum, snare drum, and bells.

We can’t have any more biological children and we always dreamed of two children, so that’s why we want to adopt.  We both love to travel and go on trips every chance we get.  We delight in taking Justin to new and exciting places, like visiting the zoo in a city we are visiting or going to the city’s children museum.  We can’t wait to share the opportunities of travel with another child.

We built our own dream house.  We did about half the work ourselves.  It was Glenn’s full-time job for almost a year.  We live in a two story, four bedroom, three bath home in a very peaceful neighborhood.  The schools in our city are excellent and offer some of the best educational opportunities in the country for math and science.  We have a local elementary, middle school, and brand new high school less than a mile from our house.  Our city also has a community college and full university branch campus that offers educational opportunities for incoming freshman through advanced degrees.

We’ve been on several fun and adventurous trips with our family, including one trip to London, England to celebrate Ellen’s father’s seventieth birthday.  We both have a large extended family and are very close to them.  We see our families several times a year.  We traveled often to visit Glenn’s family in Canada and Ellen’s family in Utah and Florida.
