We are choosing to
adopt a child because:
We have enjoyed almost six years of a wonderful marriage together. We are friends, the best of. We both come from very tight-knit families and have always dreamed of starting a family of our own. After finding out that we would not be able to have children, we mourned, but it was not a defeating sadness. We felt that perhaps God was leading us in a different direction. We took our time, we talked, we prayed, and we decided together to pursue adoption. We knew that there was a child out there whom we could pour our love, hopes, and hearts out to.

The things that make our family special and unique are:
Our family is unique in that we both believe in life-long learning. We also are not afraid to make mistakes, because we feel that it is through our mistakes that we truly learn. We laugh a lot and try to look at the bright side of things. We both have a strong love of animals and treat our pets like our babies. Each of them were rescued and now they share a loving and comfortable home with us.
           
Music, art, movies and literature are things that we enjoy doing together. Herman is a very talented artist and we both love all kinds of music. Herman’s iPod list is like nothing you have ever seen. He has it all! Monica loves to sing and even write a little. Herman is even teaching Monica to love football!

We are young professionals, Herman is an accountant for a home builder and Monica is a Special Education teacher at an elementary school. We are in our early thirties, but have accomplished a lot in a short period of time. Together we tackle things head-on but with compassion. We are strong in our faith and in our love for each other, our families, and our friends, who are also family in our eyes. We have cared for loved ones and have even gone so far as to relocate to be primary providers for them. Nothing means more to us than those we love.

The things we look forward to sharing with a child are:
There are so many things that we are looking forward to sharing with a child. We want them to enjoy a loving and caring home life, to develop a strong sense of self, and to know that nothing is out of their reach if they are willing to work hard enough for it. We can’t wait to share those first steps, first words, first vacations and first failures. We want to be there for all of this and so much more. We will love your child unconditionally. We will always be there to offer guidance, support, praise, and a shoulder to cry on. All we have will be theirs. We want them to experience life, travel, languages, and different cultures and to grow in their compassion for others as we, ourselves, continue to grow.

Other members of our family eager to welcome a child are:
We are fortunate to have a strong support system and many willing helpers. Our, yours and ours, child will be safe in our care. We come from strong, proud Hispanic and Anglo families with strong and brave men and women. We have a love of God, nature and peace. Our family is made up of laborers, teachers, public servants, soldiers, and caregivers. We teach, we learn, we continue to grow into people we hope will make our families proud.
