Dear Birthmother,
Hello! Thank you for reading our letter. We have a loving, fun and diverse, multi-racial family and household. We have been married for over five years, and after infertility issues we now realize that we are meant to adopt and provide a home to a very special child. We look forward to getting to know you and helping you get to know us! We respect what an important decision you are making, and hope that you will look closely at us.
About Us
We have one teenaged child (Tee's biological daughter), Tonasia, who is a lovely, bubbly, outgoing 16 year old. We also parented Edward and David, boys (now men) whom we together cared for during their high school and college years. We have a rescue dog, Cameron, who is silly, playful, and extremely affectionate.
Jeff is a career educator and head of a small independent school in Virginia. Tee is a highly successful paralegal and is also being trained as a volunteer for CASA (court-appointed special advocate for neglected and abused children). When we become adoptive parents Tee will be staying at home with the baby.
On any given weekend one or all of us are reading, scrapbooking, or working on school-related or creative writing projects. We often drive to the Shenandoah or Allegheny Mountains for hiking and camping on the Appalachian trail. In the summer we usually get a house at the beach for two weeks with family and friends. We are hoping to take a national parks tour soon!
Jeff About Tee
Tee is my best friend. She is a happy, kind, generous, loving person. Through her I am reminded to laugh and see the bright side. Tee manages a lot of responsibility with grace and good humor. She can do anything she sets her mind to.
She is a natural caretaker and parent. Anyone we know would trust her to take care of his or her child. We enjoy each other's company, whether walking, cheering Tonasia in lacrosse, or just taking it easy and watching a movie in front of the fireplace on a snowy night.
Tee About Jeff
Jeff is my best friend. Through him, I have learned the importance of honesty and trust in a relationship. Since I've known him, he has always been there for me. He's taken on the responsibility of being a father to Tonasia with eagerness and patience. He is great with the kids at his school and he enjoys reading to the kindergartners. While we enjoy spending time with friends on the weekends, after a long week, we enjoy most cuddling up as a family together on the couch and watching a good movie.
Tonasia
Tonasia has always wanted a little brother or sister. During the summer she is a counselor at Jeff's school for the three-five year olds. She is a junior in school and loves acting and the arts. She also likes writing short stories and playing the guitar. Tonasia plays on the lacrosse team at her school and is looking forward to teaching her little brother or sister how to play lacrosse and the guitar.
Our Home
We have a very comfortable, cozy, relaxed, and loving home. There are walking and bike paths and woods and a stream and lots of wildlife right behind our house, and lakes nearby. We have lots of friends in our neighborhood, and we and our neighbors often host cookouts and block parties together.
In Closing
We would like to thank you for taking the time to get to know our family. Hopefully we have given you a strong sense of who we are as a family and have touched your heart in some small way. Should you consider us, we would be happy to keep in touch over the years through letters, photographs and possibly visits. We have deep respect for you and the difficult decision you are facing and will keep you and your family in our prayers.
We promise to love and cherish your child and raise him/her in a secure and loving home with unconditional love, encouragement, and good Christian values and morals. We will also provide your child all the tools he/she needs to thrive and become a compassionate, sincere and productive person.
