Dear Birthmother,

Hello!  As a family-oriented Christian couple who has been married for over 10 years, we look forward to offering our child a stable home to grow and experience all that life has to offer.  Our trials with infertility have led us to adoption as a way to fulfill our dream of providing a healthy, loving home for a child.  We can’t wait to experience the joys of parenthood and the thrills of family life.  It is our sincere hope that this note will give you some insight into who we are and what we have to offer a child.

Our Life Together
We met in graduate school, became best friends, and were married soon after.  Our home is one of mutual respect, good humor, and love.  We truly love each other’s company!  We even share a job teaching at a small college and feel fortunate to have fun, challenging careers that allow us to work with young people.  Our schedule is flexible enough to allow both of us to be actively involved in the raising and nurturing of our child. 

Our hobbies and pastimes have one thing in common:  we love to do things together and with our family and friends!  We enjoy attending sporting events, especially college games.  Some of our favorite places to visit include parks and the zoo.  We also enjoy the quieter times that come with watching movies, playing board games, and solving puzzles.  Spending time together as a family is what counts most!

We live in a four bedroom ranch home with a large deck and fenced backyard. Our quiet residential neighborhood is perfect for one of our favorite activities: walking with Niles, our black lab mix.  As an obedient, medium-sized, six-year-old dog, Niles loves to play and have fun (and EAT!).  

Nancy, Told By Joel
I can’t imagine my life without Nancy.  Nancy is simply the most compassionate, fun, and intelligent person I have ever known. Nancy was born to be a mom!  Nancy’s passion is people: whether it be her family, her friends, or her students.  I can’t wait to see her with a child, working puzzles, playing board games, and reading bedtime stories.  Nancy loves crafts, but also activities like boating and waterskiing.  She can’t wait for weekly trips to the library with a child selecting books to read together.

Nancy has a way of grounding me, helping me to maintain a healthy perspective on life, our goals, and our marriage.  There are so many things about Nancy that make her a blessing to me!

Joel, Told By Nancy
Joel is a very giving person who truly cares about people.  He is intelligent with the ability to patiently explain complex problems to me, his students and our nephews.  He loves sharing stories.  I can’t wait to see Joel giggling with a child, teaching about all the things that the world has to offer.

Joel is a playful person with a laid-back, easy-going demeanor, who doesn’t believe that life should always be taken seriously.  Joel is the cook in our home, and enjoys working outside with his hands, drawing and painting.  Joel likes to play sports, but is just as much at home reading, solving puzzles, watching football, or playing board games.  Joel has the ability to make me laugh, no matter what the situation.  I truly could not ask for a better husband, and I know that he will be an incredible father.
