Dear Birthmother,
First I want to tell what an honor it is that you might be considering me to adopt your child. I would like to give you some background information about me and how I came to this point in wanting to adopt. I have wanted to be a mom for quite some time.
About Me
I am a Christian. My religious beliefs go beyond just going to church. Going to church is a lot of fun for me. I gave my life to Christ at a young age. Church is a place where I feel so relaxed and free, when I have a worry, going to church and meditating helps to lower my stress. I find going to church, working out and eating right helps me work through whatever life may bring.
I enjoy cooking if someone is around to eat. Most of my friends think I can’t cook, so they are amazed when I cook a full meal for them. I learned to cook by watching my parents, sisters and grandparents.
My Career
I am in the Army, stationed in Virginia. The military has allowed me to make lots of friends and travel to many countries.
I also enjoy volunteering at several events throughout the year, the Army Ten-miler, Breast Cancer awareness walk, collecting and sorting toys for kids in a community that needs help or helping out where ever someone needs a helping hand. One of my other things is taking my niece out for a day at Funland.
My Family
I appreciate the elders in my family. They give some great advice and have lots of stories to tell. Stories about how we bake cookies, cakes and one of our family’s best pound cake recipes are some of the things I intend to share with your child. Baking happens to be one of my other favorite past times.
I love children; I have been around children for most of my life, between friends having babies, sisters, nieces and cousin, my family is huge. My family knows about my desire to adopt and support me with this decision. They have even volunteered to baby sit for me, if I need them too. My parents are excited about being grandparents all over again, they are happy I decided to adopt. I enjoy having my mom living with me; she is excited about having a grandchild at home and watching them. She already talks about things they are going to do while I am at work. Both of them say I would make a wonderful mom. I think that I would be a wonderful mom, too.
I am the youngest girl of five. We live all over the United States, but we keep connected through the telephone and email. We are in touch at least twice a week, which I enjoy so much. We are a pretty close family. Your child will have plenty of cousins to play with because all my siblings have children. It is amazing how much our family has grown over the years.
Holidays in my family are a big deal. We celebrate them all, especially birthday’s, which we all join in on; the person’s birthday is a huge party for all. I feel that family is a very important part of my life, they support me and that is what I will give to your child love, support, honesty and lots and lots of laughs.
My Promise
I promise to nurture, love, comfort, and encourage your child. I will tell your child about you and how you helped us to become a family through adoption.
I look forward to reading stories at night and saying bedtime prayers with your child. I want to help him or her to experience a wonderful childhood with adventures like visiting the zoo, the aquarium, carnivals, and amusement parks. I will also help your child realize his or her unique dreams and heart’s desire.
I would enjoy meeting with you or speaking with you when you are ready. I look forward to staying in contact with letters, pictures and occasional phone calls. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and get to know a little about me. Please feel free to contact me by calling Lifetime at
