Adoptive parents, Matt and Teri Jo

Dear Birthmother,

We met 20 years ago when attending the same college.   We have a strong, healthy marriage, and our love for each other continues to grow.  We treasure most of all our faith in Christ.  We believe God is leading to adopt, and we are excited to see His plan unfold.

Our Family Life
Matt and Teri Jo love making homemade ice creamWe are a closely-knit family with old-fashioned values.  Our children are taught to know Christ and to depend on God for every need.

We all look forward to meals shared together.  We enjoy the simple pleasure of shared conversation.  We love making homemade ice cream and enjoying it together on our wrap-around front porch.  In the cooler weather, we’ll gather around the table to play board games, the older one helping the younger ones.

We highly value education.  We take seriously the responsibility of educating our children.  We home school them from kindergarten through high school, and we are committed to excellence in this area.

We are a down-to-earth family, and we focus on people rather than things.  Our priorities are God, family, and helping others.

About Matt, by Teri Jo
Matt is a loving, giving person.  He exhibits a warmth and charisma that make him loved by many.  He has a deep faith in God and lives daily by the principles of the Bible.

Matt is also the pastor of their churchMatt loves being a dad!  He is a kid-at-heart, and he’s always up for a game of tag or hide-n-seek.   He seems tireless when it comes to playing with and taking care of our children.  He is a wise and loving father, and he brings a strong sense of security to our family.

Matt works with children every day as a school social worker.  He is also the pastor of our church, a role that he enjoys very much.  In his leisure time, he enjoys basketball and bowling.

About Teri Jo, by Matt
Teri Jo enjoys bakingTeri Jo is the love of my life.  There is no one I’d rather spend time with.   We love to talk and laugh together.

Teri Jo has a deep love and compassion for the people around her.  She naturally encourages and supports others.

Teri Jo is very focused on our home and family.  She is aware of each child’s strengths and is careful to build on those strengths.  She is faithful to pray for and with each child.

Teri Jo has a gentle and quiet spirit.  Her favorite place is our front porch swing.  She is often found there reading a book or snuggling a child.  She also enjoys baking and taking long walks.

Everyone is elated to welcome a baby sister home! Our Children
We always wanted a large family.  God has blessed us, through adoption and by birth, with seven wonderful children.  We love each of them as if there were only one of them.  Our boys are Jonathan (22), twins Caleb and Benjamin (14), Marcus (11), and Timothy (nearly 3).   Our girls are Nicole (18) and Charity (8).  From the college student to the preschooler, they are elated to think of welcoming a baby sister home!

Our Home
We live in a five-bedroom Victorian home in a small town in Kansas.  We enjoy the old-fashioned feel of our well-kept home, which was built in 1905.

We love small-town life and enjoy being able to walk to the library, post office, or drug store.  Our neighborhood has a variety of races, and there is a nice balance of young families and older couples.

About Our Families
The family having fun playing basketballTeri Jo’s parents, known as Nana andGranddad, live across town.  They are very involved in our lives.  We spend every Monday evening at their home.   Teri Jo’s two brothers are both married with small children.  It’s a mini-celebration every time the cousins get together, which is quite often.

Although Matt’s family lives in Colorado, we see them regularly and are in touch often. All of our family members are extremely supportive of our adoption plans.  They are ready to welcome a precious new member of the family.
