Thank you for reading my letter.  Adoption has been part of my family plan since I was a small child.  I always knew at that point that adoption would be part of my family plan.  I have a very close-knit immediate family and we come together for all of the major holidays or even on short notice when someone wants to host a gathering.  We are all looking forward to this new addition to the family!

My Home and Family
I own a three bedroom, two and a half bath home.  I am currently decorating a nursery.  My home is the main gathering place for the holidays.  Some of those times are spent on the back patio near the roses, fruit trees and small vegetable garden.  Other gatherings are spent in the kitchen, breakfast nook and den; usually enjoying a buffet style meal.  This summer we are getting back to our roots and including homemade ice cream as part of the festivities.  Our gatherings are loud, full of laughter and family stories.

There are three generations of extended family and friends in the immediate area waiting to welcome a new member of the family.  Achievements are very important to my family.  Whether the goals are academic, athletic or artistic, hard work is very important.

About Me
I am a single African American female and I have lived in Oklahoma my entire life.  Oklahoma is a great place for young kids; great community activities from libraries, theatres, zoos and museums focused on children.

Although I have my Bachelor’s degree, I have never stopped learning and taking classes.  My interests include calligraphy, programming, baking and knitting.  I am also a big sports fan.  My all time favorite team in any sport are the Pittsburgh Steelers…“Go Steelers”, I’m a fan going back to the 1980s.  

I like to travel.  I haven’t made it outside of the United States yet but I will.  I do have fond memories of family trips to the Grand Canyon, vacations in Arizona as well as Louisiana.  I would love sharing my travel experiences with a child.

I am currently employed as an auditor for a private company that collects public record information.  The industry is small but I’m proud to say we are expanding even in these economic times.  My position is best defined as Quality Assurance.  I’m responsible for maintain the accuracy of our database.  I’m very detailed oriented and strong willed, this position suits my strengths perfectly.

I’ve worked for the owner of this company in the past.  When he and his executives started this new venture, they reached out to me and invited me to join the team again.  I am very glad that I decided to accept the invitation.  The company is small but offers intangible perks; the most notable is the ability to work from home.  This will be very beneficial with a small child.

My childcare plans are to use a small licensed day care; I prefer a smaller more focused environment.  Both of my parents are currently active and retired so they may take over day care duties.  Who better to care for the child I love in my absence than the people who raised me? There is a local school that I plan to use for pre-K through fourth grade.  It is the same school that I attended.  It’s a great place to get an advance on the basics.  I have great memories from my time at the school even all these decades later.  I still attend the yearly reunion and receive the monthly updated newsletters.

My Faith
Like most things in my life my religious background is varied.  I’ve participated in both the Catholic and the Southern Baptists denominations.  While I don’t have a church home, I try to live a spiritual life on a daily basis.  I start every day by thanking God for making a way through the day ahead.  It is really simple for me; I don’t like being judged, so I don’t waste my time judging others.  My ultimate goal is to get into heaven.

I promise to love your child and protect him/her like a momma bear.  I promise to teach him/her “old school” values with “new school” ideals.  I promise to do my best to make all of your child’s hopes and dreams come true.
