Dear Birthmother,

We are Jackie and Tim. We’d like to thank you for taking time to get to know us.

We’ve been married since 1994 and we are the delighted parents of our son, Leo, who we adopted in 2002. Our lives are amazingly enriched by Leo and we are excited to expand our family through adoption again. 

Who We Are
We met while Jackie was working at a bookstore and Tim was an exhibit installer at a museum. We knew shortly after meeting that we wanted to spend our lives together. Jackie taught ceramics for seven years at a nearby boarding school, and is now a stay-at-home mom where she runs a pottery studio.  After six years as a carpenter, Tim now works for a small Internet company.

About Jackie
Jackie loves to take care of people, with a twinkle in her eye. She is Queen of the Garden, has a passion to cook, and makes dinner every night (I love that chicken pot pie!) Some of her favorite times are spent celebrating people, holidays, and special family times.  She’s a great, consistent, fun-loving mom and a fun-loving wife!  Jackie loves music, and often makes special mixed CDs for friends, full of life and thoughtfulness.

About Tim
Tim is a wonderful husband and father. He is wholeheartedly dedicated to our family in every way. His thoughtful and down-to-earth approach to living can be seen in all aspects of his life. Whether completing a project in the office or at home, his tremendous work ethic is evident.

He has taught our son the importance of patience, kindness, and perseverance.
     
What’s Important to Us      
We live in southern Vermont in a beautiful small town and love to be outside gardening, playing baseball and soccer, and taking walks through our neighbors’ farm. We’ve chosen to live as naturally as we can. We grow much of our own food, and try our best to live lightly on the earth.

Our few acres include a vegetable garden, flowerbeds, apple and cherry trees, and berry bushes. It’s a wonderful place and we enjoy every bit of it—in every season.   

Humor is also a big part of our lives. We try to see the light side of life as much as possible and believe it’s truly good for people to laugh. We want our children’s lives to be full of wholesome fun.  

There are many cultural and educational resources nearby for families. We look forward to sharing all of this with your child, and we also know that a lot of a child’s education and fun happens outside—in the parks and in the woods.

Our Families
Both sets of our parents are still married, committed to their families. We’re both fortunate to have grown up with that example. We know that the example of our love and dedication will do the same for our children. We hope they will grow up with the knowledge that loving and being good to people is the most important accomplishment.

Our parents are thrilled about being involved in the lives of our children, and are very excited that we’ll be expanding our family. We also have ten nieces and nephews who will be delighted to welcome a new member of the family.

Each of us is proud of our family heritage, having grown up in strong traditions brought to America by our grandparents. We both spent holidays and family celebrations eating Slovak and Polish foods and hearing colorful stories about our grandparents’ travels to America. 

We hope to pass along traditions to our children that will reflect their heritage, too.

Our Faith
The most important aspect of our lives is our Christian faith. We try to live the ideals of service and love, and we are always eager to learn more about our faith. We have taught religious education, and we still work in our parish food pantry, and take meals and gifts to people right in our town.

Our Final Thoughts
We know that healthy relationships are based in love and truth. Therefore, we would be willing to share with your child any pertinent information about you and your family. We’d also share pictures and stories with you as your child grows up.
