Providing the Support You Need In Choosing Your Child's Future Help and Support for Pregnant Women

Dear Birthmother,

William and Ashley met with Tanner's birthparents before he was bornWe did not use the term ‘Birth Parent’ because you don’t stop loving or caring about your child at his or her birth. Instead, we said ‘Family Member’, as you will definitely feel like a part of William and Ashley’s family if you choose them to be the parents for your child.

It was our goal to find a Christian couple with other children and a close, interactive extended family. We are definitely pleased to know our son is growing up in this family. Your child will grow up in a loving, Christian environment, with grandparents who will be goofy in love with a new grandbaby.

We have visited several times, exchanged many phone calls and received letters and pictures often that are testimony to how happy our son is with William, Ashley, and Colton. The best example of when we knew we had made a great choice was the day after Tanner was born. He had been moved into the special care nursery because of breathing problems. Ashley came back to our room early that morning to give us an update. It was scary wondering if this open adoption concept would work on both ends. It was a little act, but reflected the character of the family to whom we were entrusting our son; reassuring us that they really did plan on keeping us an active and involved part of Tanner’s life.
